The Pine Tree Pistol Club in Rockford, IL is hosting ICORE matches this Summer and we would like to invite you all to attend. ICORE was founded in 1991 as an alternative choice for action pistol shooters. The courses of fire are exclusively designed for revolver shooters utilizing the simplest of equipment. Scoring is all time based with an emphasis on accuracy, where as, other shooting genres focus on power.
ICORE is divided into two divisions: Limited (basically stock) and Open (ports, optical sights, that sort of stuff). All a competitor is required to have to shoot a match is a revolver, holster (that covers the trigger guard) 2-3 speed loaders or moon clips and ammunition. If the competitor desires to compete with a single action gun, then a single action cowboy rig is allowed. Ammunition has to be 32 magnum caliber and above, with a power factor of 120,000 (velocity x bullet weight). If a shooter is using factory UMC 158 grain, Remington 158 grain, Blazer 158 grain, or Federal American Eagle 158 grain 38/357 ammunition, he/she may compete regardless of power factor.
 ICORE courses of fire are all revolver neutral. Most stages are only 18 to 24 rounds engaging steel plates, static steel and the NRA D-1 target. The NRA D-1 target is the tombstone target used in Bianchi Cup and GSSF matches. There are four scoring areas to the D-1 target and if the shooter strays away from the center two rings, penalty times are added to the final time.
The scoring matrix is:
X and A ring = 0 time added
B ring = 1 second added
C area = 2 seconds added
Miss = 5 seconds added
The X ring may be used as a bonus, but that is determined by the individual stage description.
Pine Tree Pistol Club ICORE match time is 12:00 PM and the cost is $5.00. ICORE membership is not mandatory, but if you are interested in joining a chapter of ICORE, please contact Pete Curtis at pete@pcarmory.com or call 630-696-2710.
Lastly, if you do not own a revolver, but would like to shoot the competition, please come out and bring your semiautomatic pistol. We only ask that you load six rounds in your magazine.
